Dragon's supposed abilities, and their similarities to the powers of the mythological creature make this connection all but certain. In Algonquin iconography, the thunderbird is depicted as an X-shape, with its body in the shape of an X, and the wings and head facing out to the side. The Thunderbird is a spiritual bird in North American indigenous mythology that is said to have the ability to control powerful storms, lightning, and thunder. If Dragon does possess a fruit, combined with the indigenous symbolism on his face, it's possible that Dragon is the user of the mythical zoan devil fruit, the Tori-Tori no Mi, Model: Thunderbird. Neither of these things can be coincidences, and yet Dragon hasn't been seen with these mysterious abilities ever since. Later, when Luffy was apprehended by Smoker, a blistering wind began, right as Dragon touched Smoker's shoulder to get him to release Luffy. When Luffy was about to be executed in Loguetown by Buggy, a lightning bolt struck the stand he was being held on. If the tattoos are indeed of Skypeian origin, they could help explain another mystery that surrounds Dragon: whether he possesses a devil fruit. Unless Garp married and had a child with a Skypeian woman, it's more likely that Dragon went there some time in his youth and was integrated into the tribe in some way, receiving his tattoo as a result. It's unlikely that Dragon was born in Skypeia, simply due to the fact that Garp, his father, would have had no reason to go to Skypeia. Oda said that he named his main character. The fact that Dragon shares the same tattoos as they do is no mistake, but what exactly it means is up to interpretation for the time being. When Eiichiro Oda created Luffy, he strove for a manliness similar to that of Akira Toriyamas Dragon Ball series. Their culture and designs are obvious references to real life indigenous tribes, and the markings on their skin are no exception. The Skypeians are the indigenous tribe that live on the sky island of Skypeia. Tattoos such as this have only ever been shown in one group of people: the Skypeians. An X-shaped pattern crisscrosses the left side of his face, with an interesting red and black color scheme. Hopefully, we will see his real identity and the extent of his true powers in Reverie. The most striking thing about Dragon's character design is the tattoo on his face. The meeting of the World Leaders is about to happen in Reverie, and that could be the perfect time for Dragon to initiate his true scheme. If he were to fight a battle in the seas, he could easily change the outcome by creating a huge sea storm with lightning. Sabo was on the Highland of the Goa Kingdom, and he was in desperate need for a help, Dragon appeared, and he put out the fire with his gust of wind in order to make a pathway for the other people. The rain stopped, and an immense gust of wind blew in the town.It was powerful enough to blow Luffy, Alvida, Marines, the pirate crews away with it. Luffy was held by Smoker on the ground and when Smoker was about to deliver his final blow, Dragon stopped him. The very next incident also took place in the same town when Luffy was almost captured by Captain Smoker. Suddenly, a lightning bolt struck the platform and knocked Buggy out thus saving Luffy. When Buggy was about to execute Luffy on the platform, there was no hope for Luffy to survive as Zoro and Sanji were intercepted by the pirates. If anyone has additional homemade menus that would let me burn the Despecialized Editions from a 6.7ish GB files to DVD-DLs that will play in standard DVD players, with chapter menus and a subtitle on/off menu, and an appropriate layer break, without having to make my own, I’d be thrilled to get that help! But if anyone is willing to see if they have some ideas on how to make what I’ve made work better, let me know. If it is, please let me know, and as I said, I’m still more than happy. My goal would be to do this without needing to buy a paid authoring program, though that may be a pipe dream. Plus, even after I figure out how, I need to figure out where, and I thought I also might defer to those of you who know the movies backwards and forwards better than I do for suggestions on spots in the center 50% of each of the three films where a layer break might be least noticeable.Īnybody willing to try a little trouble shooting with me? I thought that maybe it was just the burning part of the program being glitchy. But the menus didn’t seem to burn properly. I have created a project in DVDStyler using that and one of the SRT files from Harmy’s 17 GB MKV version for subtitles and tried to burn it to a Verbatim Dual Layer DVD with that program. Trying my hand with Star Wars first, I used MakeMKV to extract an MKV from the AVCHD version that ends up being about 6.7 GB. So I was hoping to be able to author some very simple menus, with nothing but background images, that would let me navigate chapters and turn subtitles on and off. However, as amazing as Harmy’s Despecialized Editions are, I miss having any kind of DVD menu and having subtitles that are optional. So if this is as far as I get, I’m still very happy! I’ve even succeeded in burning DVDs from the DVD5 versions. OK, so I have succeeded in downloading all three versions of all three Despecialized films. Unfortunately this is an alien substance never before seen in nature that microbes don’t know how to break down into water and carbon dioxide. Many other kinds of polymers can be made as well, and mixed with additives such as dyes, chemicals, antioxidants, foaming agents, plasticizers, and flame retardants for food storage, cosmetics, medicine, technology, and health care products. Especially polyethylene and polypropylene, the most common polymers on earth because they can make plastics ranging from pliable to tough (Bryce 2021). They will need to be further broken down into smaller fragments with high heat and pressure, and then formed into long repeating chains called polymers. The segment made into plastic and other petrochemicals is Naptha, which contains ethane and propene. They’re fed into a distillation tube where the heavier oil sinks to the bottom while the shorter, lighter chains of hydrocarbon float to the top. And unfortunately, single use plastic bottles.Ĭrude oil flows like molasses and needs to be heated to separate the hydrocarbons into different products based on their number of atoms and therefore molecular weight. How do I love thee crude oil? Let me count the ways: Plastic, asphalt, glue, aspirin, insecticides, antiseptics, bandages, purses, boats, cameras, shampoo, candles, cell phones, curtains, luggage, dashboards, fertilizers, ink, pharmaceuticals, refrigerants, shower curtains, surf boards, synthetic rubber, tents, toothpaste, Legos and my umbrella. Natural gas and coal are used to make ammonia and methanol, but difficult to turn into other products because they require multiple energy-intensive steps (IEA 2018, KAUST 2020). Of all the fossil fuels we use in a year, about seven percent – 500 million metric tons of oil equivalent, the weight of all the people on earth – is used as both feedstock and energy to make these one billion tons of products (IEA 2018). We consume about ONE BILLION TONS of products a year. He’d have had to refine crude oil to make propylene, which takes at least six chemical transformations to make into the simplest plastic, polyethylene.Ĭrude oil is the feedstock for half a million products. After a great deal of struggle, he was able to make the metal pieces, which mankind has made since the Iron Age. Even the simplest toaster had 404 parts of plastic, steel, mica, copper, and nickel. Thwaites (2011) showed how hard replicating a complex process that we take for granted would be by performing a simple exercise: He tried to make an ordinary toaster from scratch. It is quite likely that after fossils are gone, plastics will no longer be made, since they are incredibly complex – PhDs in numerous fields make them possible – and most kinds have been around for only 50 years or less. When we were done taking all the images we put each set of photos through Photoshop and adjusted the levels a little to take out any majorly visually noticeable seams between the background and the product table. Note: We shot in jpeg to keep file sizes down and reduce the workflow time a little. Essentially this means that it takes 1.05 seconds to move the head 10 degrees.Īfter all your settings are in you’re ready to click ‘start’. After some trial and error, we found that this gave us 10 degrees of movement from the head, which giving us enough time to move between the camera taking the shot. It felt right.ġ050 milliseconds – This figure determines how long the head will spin for before it stops. It’s important in one of the next steps to give the table enough time to move. Going into ‘Shoot, Move, Shoot’ you have a few options:Ģ – this controls the amount of seconds between every shot. We therefore opted to take a shot at every 10 degrees of the product. So, 36 shots for each product… We wanted our final 360 shots to almost look seamless, giving lots of angles at which to be able to view the product from. Navigating over to ’tripod’ in the camranger app gives you full control of the head and allows you to start inputting your ‘Shoot, Move, Shoot’ settings. With all our hardware set up it was time to start the Camranger app and put it through it’s paces. The solution? Bring the table forward! Just bare in mind that the background area you’re lighting will need to increase a bit as the angle of view will be greater. With the product table too close to the background, there was a lot of reflected light spilling onto the products and thus blowing out some of the highlights on the products themselves. We had some issues with the position of the product table in relation to the background. Our final setup for the background included two Arri 800w Redheads, positioned to the left and right of the background. We chose to light the product with a Photoflex Starlight, to which we added a soft box to take the edge off the actual products themselves. We chose to shoot with tungsten balanced lights but you could just as effectively using LED or fluorescent sources. Providing that you’re shooting object of similar sizes, you shouldn’t need to change the lighting too much once it’s set up correctly. Getting a good lighting setup in place is key to a simplifying the whole workflow. (we just happened to have one lying about(!)), you could just as easily use a table.īehind the product area we mounted a white matte vinyl background. We simply screwed it onto a Manfrotto Super Clamp and attached that to our scaff frame. Mounting the Hague head to our grid was easy. It’s a good idea to try and secure the product surface to the head with a 1/4 inch screw as you may find your platform starts to spin by itself otherwise. To create a surface for the products to be places on, we cut a piece of MDF board, attached a white laminate sheet on top and the fixed it all to the head. Turning the head up-side-down allowed us to see all of this clearly. On the underside of the Hague head is a spirit level and the rotational dial. We chose to rig everything on a grid which meant we could adjust the height of the table and attach lights easily. You’re obviously going to need a camera too! We’ve used our Canon 5DmkIII coupled with the 24-70 lens. We used an iPad 3 with the camranger app but we tested a Nexus 7 but preferred the size of the iPad – the buttons felt easier to press accurately and the layout generally looked a little bit neater. By adding Camranger’s new PT Hub we were able to take control of the MP-360Head directly within the Camranger app on our tablet and control the movement on the head.Īs well as being able to control the MP-360 head’s movement from within the Camranger app, you can also set it up for interval shooting, or ‘Shoot, Move, Shoot’. We started off with the trusty Camranger which we already love for it’s wireless viewing and remote capturing capabilities. With our new website just around the corner, we though it would be a good time to try something a little different with our product images. Alternatively, it’ll be hidden away where you can’t find it. It’s a real possibility that your Android device won’t have this feature as a setting you can switch on or off. Some devices might have a setting to help you keep the screen on during a call on Android. How to Disable the Proximity Sensor on Your Android Phoneįor some reason, there isn’t much consistency in how Android manufacturers tackle this functionality.
